To me, this is the great need in the world today. Most of our troubles
would be over if we only could learn to forgive each other. This is a
great need in Christianity today, is to learn to forgive.
What
saith the scripture?
Mark
11:(25) "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against
any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
(26) But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is
in heaven forgive your trespasses."
Believers,
this is the way we are to handle those who we think trespasses against
us.
Please
read Matthew 18:15-17
We
must look to the cross where Jesus died. He died the most agonizing an
ignominious death a cruel age could devise. Nails were driven through
the hands and feet, and the victim was left hanging there in agony, starvation,
insufferable thirst, and excruciating convulsions of pain. Even to think
what they (murderers) did to Him makes us furiously angry, even as we
think about it today. Jesus died there without resentment and with great
self-control. Even asking His Father to forgive those who murdered Him.
If we believe in Him we must walk this road of forgiveness as He did.
Read
Luke 23:34
Look
carefully at "The Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-15. Focus on verses
14 and 15. Matthew 6:(14) "For if ye forgive men their trespasses,
your heavenly Father will also forgive you: (15) but if ye forgive
not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."
