Jesus, after the resurrection, appeared to his disciples and others, for
40 days before He was taken up to where He came from, back to His Father
in Heaven, to eternity and infinity.
Read
Acts 1:6-11
Acts
1:11 Angels
were speaking these words to His disciples, after Jesus was taken up saying
"Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven?
This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come
in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."
The
ascension of Jesus brought to an official, glorious and triumphant end
to earthly ministry of the Lord and initiated His ministry at the right
hand of the Father.
Paul
wrote to the Thessalonians (1 Thessalonians 4:16) that Jesus would
descend from Heaven with a shout, how in God's world could He descend
again to earth if He never ascended up in the first place?
Why
do we find it so hard to believe the scripture when even history itself
tells us Jesus went back to the Father after His redeeming visit to this
planet?
He
plainly says in John 14:3, "And if I go and prepare a place for
you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am,
there ye may be also"
Again,
how could Jesus be preparing a place for we believers if he had not ascended
back to His Father?
Jesus'
last meeting with His disciples was in Jerusalem; there He led them out
to Bethany (Luke 24:50) and from the hilltops of Bethany He passed
into the clouds. I believe that waiting angel chariots drove the triumphant
Savior away to the throne of God.
He
came, He saw, He conquered
Will
you, my dear friend, believe on this man who wore the seamless robe, with
nail prints in His hands, feet and spear hole in His side?
